I have pre-filled the first, informative pages of the application form. Now working on the thematic pages. Please read and check the pages concerning your institution! And a little note: I did not forget fax number, I do not enter them in purpose - such an ancient history it is! Check list of application: Partner no 2, Poland – I have all the needed information, please check, if everything is correct Partner no 3, Italy – I need (1) the size (number) of your school staff, (2) the description of your organization, (3) the information about your previous projects if you have them. Partner no 4, Germany – I need (1) description of your organization – look what other participants have written and (2) are you sure you do not have previous Comenius projects? we were together with you in a project 1999-2002;) nothing after that? Partner no 5, Latvia – I have all the information, please check, if everything is correct. And I shortened a bit your description of the organization, hope you don’t mind. Partner no 6, Spain – I need (1) the website address of your school! Attachments:

Thanks, Puri, no problem, we have time! Check list for part 2: D.1. Project name? It should be short – easier to remember and use on logo etc. Preferably not English… Some abbreviation? Maybe something from Latin like „cantamus“ or „cantate“ or something … Think, people! G.1. Participants – you must guess some kind of number, how many people you could involve in your school. nobody can check it directly, but you should be able to explain, in what way they are involved. for example in our school we have a youth choir with 45 singers and they all are involved to some extent – never mind that only 18 of them can come to a project meeting. G.2. The meetings – we now have 2 volunteers for the first meetings’ host, Germany and Italy. At this point it seems that our first choice is Italy, because travelling there is cheaper both for Spain and Estonia (the 2 main event hosts, who’s budgets are therefore very tense). Remember, that each participant must be ready to overtake one meeting’s hosting – it is not sure that the first planned hosts are getting granted! H. Funding – Grant amount requested you see in the last column is automatic, not my idea;) you cannot change that! The numbers of moblity are my guess – this can change except for the rule of minimum 24 persons during the 2 years. WRITE ALL YOUR COMMENTS AND CORRECTIONS HERE IN THE FORUM! THE DEADLINE FOR EVERYBODY TO WRITE SOMETHING IS JANUARY THE 15TH 2012. Attachments:

Hi Gerli, I've read and checked the draft of the application. C5 is OK. The number of pupils participating could be 35 and teachers - 7. As we are so close to Estonia and not so far from Tallin (~300km) we could bring quite a lot of singers to the Song Festival. What about the accomodation in Tallin? We could do with sleeping bags in a school. That's the way we usually do in our song festivals in Riga. That's all for now. We wish you all Happy New Year! Dina

Thanks, Dina! Yes, we plan to agree with the organizers of Laulupidu and go to a school for accommodation with all other participants from Pärnu. Of course we can agree with you on larger number of pupils - it depends more on capacity of buses and the agreement with Laulupidu. Maybe you can come with your own bus even? We'll see it later, if we get the project running!

Dear friends!
I now have almost all necessary data for the project application. Please pay attention to the page 37 and write here the number of participants in your school. Only Latvia has done it now, expecting answers from others, too!
And some more comments on the application?
NB! EVERY SCHOOL HAS TO MAKE AT LEAST 1 POST IN THIS TOPIC ON JANUARY 15TH AS THE LATEST!

Hello everybody!
Some comments about the project: . Name: We suggested The Sounds of Europe, we thought in the sound of all the instruments, voice as an instrument too, the most perfect, he is said; but for us never mind. Cantata is also a good name and it summarize what we are going to do. If you prefer not in English, our vote for CANTATA. . I have read the application, I think it is interesting, we can include to create a BLOG, to facilitate the communication between pupils and to know each other better and also improve their English. Then, in October 2012 we can decide who create the BLOG and put there a power point titled: My school, my village; in February, another power point: The music in my region; and in other data some news about the school or about concerts, festivals in the own region. Moreover, they could write all the songs there and make the translation into English.
Then in the part of application related to EDUCATIONAL we can write also: New technologies, because we are using them and we are creating a Blog and we can include informatic teachers too.
. Creating a LOGO for the project: All countries create a logo, in Art classes, each country choose the better, we put the logo of all the countries in the Blog and students of all the countries choose the logo they think represent better of all us. . On KEY COMPETENCES, we can add DIGITAL COMPETENCE and SENSE OF INITIATIVE. . On DISTRIBUTION OF TASKS: may be we have to specify all the tasks. . HORIZONTAL ISSUES: why not: promoting equality between men and women? or Equaal opportunities? Directly or indirectly we do it. . DISSIMINATION: We have a digital magazine, all the community can read it, it's new but we can use it. The village has a Council magazine too. . PARTICIPANTS' INVOLVEMENT: If you want we can specify, for example: Pupils: participation in the logo design, writing information about each schhool,..., participation in choossing partitures,... Teaachers: Planning every stage of the project, choosing pupils , creating questionnaire, organisation of guest visits, creating a bloc, dvd,...
. Our school: 50 students, 8 teachers directly or indirectly, it could be more because the music week is here and we want students participation.
Well, what do you thinK? Kisses, Puri

hi gerli
As for the number of pupils participating, I would say 30 + 6 teachers from Italy.
The number of people involved in the mobility is fine.
bye, Giovanni

Dear friends, HERE ARE SOME extra idea. I think we need to add something about the impact. I'll try to think about something and possibly write later.
- what about involving all the pupils in the decision of the name of the project? We could give them 5 or so to choose from
D6 : IMPACT (teachers collaborate with colleagues; pupils: motivation for meeting and working with friends from abroad; schools & parents)
F1 : DISTRIBUTION OF TASKS: I suggest distributing tasks to every nation. - For ex: some of us can organize the twinspace (if we decide to use the ewtinning platform): start blogs, folders, etc. My colleague Cristina is our expert in this, we can do it, if you want - someone else can be responsible for organizing the uploaded videos (vimeo? other sites?). We could also appoint someone as the one who suggests which informatic tools to use for the different phases of the project (ex programs for recording, pictures, etc) so that we all use the same programs -someone else can be in charge of the graphics of the project - you, Gerli, can write that are the administrator of the forum “cantamus proboard”
F2: We could maybe also include some form of contact as skype or something similar. There might be moments when a group tries to play some live songs for others who are connected live MORE IDEAS (as already written in an older post):
SURVEY: the students create a survey about music from the other countries: which musician/s from Estonia, Greece, Germany Italy Switzerland is/are famous in their country? The results are shared
MUSIC IN OUR COUNTRY:the students from each country prepare a presentation on famous musicians from their own country. Possibly belonging to different genres (rock, pop, classic, jazz, folk, etc). The presentations will be followed by an ON-LINE- QUIZ to be answered by the partner students (google documents could be used, or other tools)
create a MUSIC WEB MAGAZINE featuring articles on the music loved by the students (a new issue every two/three months, with articles/interviews, reviews, etc)
RECORDING/FILMING : creating a (very simple) MUSIC/TV channel/radio : a Podcasting program could be used (I don't know how to create it myself, but am sure some of you can): every month/two months we could publish a new program putting together the contributon by students from different countries
take care, giovanni

Hi, Sorry, but I do not quite understand your NB. Could you explain, please. My NB! means that I wish to see at least one message from everybody here in this forum. As agreed, almost everybody has read and commented on the work version of the application. Thanks! What about you, Poland? Could you open and read the application?

hello all together, like Ulli has written, we had to do in the last weeks before Christmas and after New Year's now very much at the school. Here are a few comments from me to the application: D1: name of the project - I think Sounds of Europe is not bad, because English is likely to be the language in which we all communicate with each other. The ideas are stated in the application I find very apt and achieveable. I would like to join some of the ideas of Giovanni. In addition to the videos that are uploaded by individual musical groups, you could definitely also seek an exchange about the various music scenes in the country. This can happen for one article about the students they could write about a topic, or even independent of the music. Here you could work with simple mp3 files that you publish. This is less often to create "hard" than one video, where sometimes the sound quality suffers. We will probably participate in the project with 30 students who are from different study groups from the field of music. Since changes in our participation in the study groups per semester or school year, which is always difficult to predict, but Ulli has also been mentioned in his entry!
Many greetings from Germany, Nicole

Not so great news from Estonia. Our NA has put us into reserve... It means, that we might get approved only if there are some cancellations of other projects. As you maybe know the waiting is a torture and it can last until December... We will contact our NA and search some more information and then come back to you with suggestions about our future. GERMANY, LATVIA, POLAND what is your answer from your NA?

dear gerli, I am really sorry.
It's really unfair, after all what you have done to start everything.
However, I am confident it will be finally inserted among the ones financed.
Good luck, cross fingers, yours
Giovanni

Talked to the Estonian NA today. In our project there are 3 x yes and 3 x reserve. What is the plan now? 1) We wait and if Estonia gets yes, we continue as planned and meet in Italy with teachers in November. 2) If there are no answer till October 15th, we suggest that we give up this year and apply again in February 2013, with the same application, with the same group + maybe some new. 3) If schools with yes want to continue anyway, it is possible. You choose new coordinator and go on. Just have in mind, that you cannot travel to Estonia to the song festival here, because the travel is allowed only to the partner schools. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

ciao gerli
to be honest I do no know what to do. I will have to speak to the Principal about what you suggest. I'll let you know something - hopefully - by next week (she is not here now). I really hope things turn out for the best for you and the other 2 schools.
take care

Take your time! There is no need nor possible to decide anything before September-October. First, we even do not know, who is the "yes" #3 now. I explained the choices, to be sure that everybody understands, what is going to happen, if Estonia gets "no". Until then - having a good summer and hoping for the best

I COPY HERE EMAIL FROM GERMANY, SO EVERYBODY GETS THE INFORMATION:
Dear Gerli, we have not yet officially received the reply from our NA, but have inofficially been informed that our application has been approved. And we also hope the other schools will get the approval from your NAs as well. At the moment we cannot make any decision because due to the current summer holidays we won't be able to discuss the issue with our principal before Mid August. However, we do not think we should or could go on as planned without Estonia because that would mean changing the project considerably. We would rather postpone the project and apply again next year hoping for a more positive result. Please let us know what you think about the future of our project. Thanks! Yours Ulli

Hello Gerli, I have send you a personal message. We are very dissapointed. For us it would be a hard decision to renounce to the project. Last year we participated in another comenius we have approved but our NA hadn't enough money for us and we couldn't do it. If we renounce it doesn't mean that next year we will have it. At the moment we wait and we hope good news in september-october. Friday moorning I comunicated to the teachers even some students that we have approved, you can imagine! When I saw your message I couldn't believe it. Waiting the good news, kisses from Spain. Puri
